As a photojournalist with The Straits Times, Neo Xiaobin covered several memorable events this year, including the funeral of the late former Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew. She was touched by the many senior citizens who queued up for hours to pay their respects.
Another career highlight was photographing Indonesian President Joko Widodo this year when The Straits Times was granted an exclusive interview in Jakarta. She was also assigned to report on Singaporean victims during the Bangkok bombing in August.
The former journalism major credits the school for instilling the basics of reporting in her. Go-Far also first exposed her to reporting in a foreign land and the various challenges that came along with it. “I’ll always be grateful to the guidance of the teachers as well as the critique and inspiration from my school mates that have made me grow into the person I am today,” she says.
