As Associate Editor of TODAY newspaper, Jason Tan (CS’ 98) oversees coverage for foreign news and commentaries. He joined Today in 2014.
Jason kickstarted his career in journalism with the Singapore Press Holdings before joining the Foreign Service in 2002.
The 42-year-old fondly remembers the fun times he had as a student of WKWSCI, from organising an orientation camp to organising a Dinner and Dance with limited budget.
“We blasted the song Feels Like Heaven in the courtyard of Hall of Residence 2 when planning for orientation camp. It was so much fun, we didn’t want school to start,” Jason said.
“Also, despite budget constraints we still managed to put up an excellent D&D at Goodwood Park Hotel, where everyone, faculty members included, literally let their hair down,” he added.
But above all, Jason still credits WKWSCI for providing him with a holistic education that eventually saw him pursue his career as a journalist.
“The writing courses in school sparked my love for journalism, without which I would probably be a bored accountant now,” he said.
