Sharing five closets with four sisters inspired Fong Kam Ling to start up her own business, ClosetStyles, a mobile application equipped with buyers’ protection and delivery service for women to sell and buy used clothes in good or mint-like condition.
The 32-year-old alumna first launched the online marketplace in her home country Malaysia last March, before expanding it to Singapore in January this year.
Within months, the business has won numerous awards. It has also been selected as one of the Top 50 Southeast Asian Startups of MaGIC Accelerator this year.
Recounting her school days, Kam Ling said her greatest takeaway was learning the importance of team work.
“I believe that having a good team is one of the most important factors that contribute to the success of a startup... a good team is not necessarily one with top talents and skills, but one which work with love, passion and towards the same goal.”
