Driven by her passion for visual storytelling, Daphne Tan (CS’07) explored different aspects of filmmaking, from editing videos at Nickelodeon to script writing at production house Ochre Pictures.
Now, the 34-year-old is a producer-editor at Infinite Frameworks, a post-production media company, where she cuts weekly on-air promotions for Mediacorp serial dramas, including Channel 5 long-form drama Tanglin.
The broadcast practicum at the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information paved the way for her, Tan recalled, adding that she loved the sharing culture in school.
“It was very collaborative, people were willing to share. It’s the idea of sharing knowledge and helping your classmates,” she said.
Besides filmmaking, Tan is also equally invested in fitness. She teaches gymnastics to children at GymKraft once a week. She was also part of NTU’s cheerleading team, NTU ACES, when she was an undergraduate.
For Tan, she finds both filmmaking and cheerleading enjoyable and that keeps her going even though it can be tiring at times.
“As long as something is fun, I will keep doing it.”
