Candy Choo (CS’19) is a brand management analyst at Mercer, a management consulting agency.
Candy initially tried her hand at various communications specialisations such as advertising, public relations and filmmaking before she decided that management consultancy was for her.
“I really enjoy the work they do and the impact they have on people so I decided to stay,” she said.
Candy was introduced to a career in management consultancy back when she was in WKWSCI, by lecturer Ferdinand de Bakker when he invited industry experts from Mercer and Oliver Wyman to his class.
Now, she has been working full-time with Mercer for one and a half years.
“At some point I was feeling self conscious because a lot of consultants come from a business or economic background but I’m a communications graduate. But I realised, this is what I’m good at, this is what I’m bringing to the table and it gives me an edge,” she said.
On top of her full-time day job, Candy manages social media for 20th Century Studios.
Her working relationship with public relations company The Good Folks has also given her the opportunity to venture into product styling.
Having done Art as a subject in her ‘O’ and ‘A’ levels, Candy has a keen eye for visuals and design. She has since worked with brands such as Innisfree, New Balance and Long John Silver’s.
