Anthia Chng began her journey at local lifestyle guide magazine Expat Living as part of her internship at the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information. She returned to the same company for a full-time career upon graduation, to pick up where she left off.
She is currently the magazine’s Beauty & Fashion editor, and doubles up as a writer for the Wine & Dine column. Her primary role as an editor is to ensure that only the best articles are published, through intensive polishing and refining of story ideas.
A typical day at work for her involves attending media previews and product launches. She has also worked with established brands such as NYX, L’Oreal and Sephora, reviewing the latest products to recommend to readers.
During her free time, she also manages an Instagram page on beauty and cosmetics (@beautybyanthia), where she reviews a wide range of skincare and cosmetic products.
Anthia said it was ultimately the school that gave her the platform to hone her skills through different courses.
“I’ve always enjoyed writing. But taking up the different modules in school gave me the chance to narrow down my interests, and it was in school (WKWSCI) that I decided on what I wanted to do - lifestyle writing,” she said.
