Covering content on travel, entertainment and food, Alvinology.com is one of the most popular lifestyle websites in Singapore, with over five million views monthly.
However, it is not common knowledge that Alvinology.com is the brainchild of one of the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information’s very own – Alvin Lim.
Founded in 2007, Alvinology.com gave Alvin a platform to test out content marketing ideas and identify content that Singaporeans would want to engage with.
This website has now spawned various media channels, under the umbrella of AM Collective Pte Ltd, which Alvin owns.
His contributions to the digital marketing scene have not gone unnoticed. He acted as the Head of Global English Content for the 2014 Youth Olympic Games, with the official website receiving over two million page views daily.
In 2017, he was appointed as DBS Bank’s vice president of strategic marketing and communications.
Having amassed a wealth of marketing experience, he ultimately credits these achievements back to the foundation laid by the school.
“WKWSCI allowed me to try out various communications functions, which proved to be useful for digital marketers. An all-rounded skill set is more valuable than a specialist track.”
Despite his achievements, Alvin is not content to rest on his laurels. After 16 years of experience in the marketing field, he has learnt that change is the only constant.
“You have to constantly keep up with changing trends to stay relevant,” Alvin notes.
